Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Strong aroma. Bold maple. Bright pulpy apples. Caramelization.
Initial Taste: Light bite. Semi-bright apples with lots of caramel elements. Extra clean and somewhat juicy upfront. Lighter body than expected.
After Taste: As the apple dissipates more caramel notes become noticeable. Becomes warmer with a boozy element though no real detecable fermentation notes.
On ice: Reduced overall mouthfeel and intensity. Dramatically thinner.
Additional Notes: The Darragon de Brandy de Pomme by Domaine Lafrance follows a series of traditional homages to French ciders, in this case extra-clean offerings that are full bodied and caramel forward. Juicy, crisp and lightly sparkled, this is a classic example of an upbeat and boozy Quebec offering. Has a lot of maple and barreling elements from the brandy barrels which the elements of it come in but without the astringency and intensity that is found in the liquor. This would appeal to most cider and non-cider-specific drinkers alike. Some ice cider elements without the intensity or thickness, as seen with the sweetness. Tell your friends to try this one!
