Cider Crate Tasting Notes:

Smell: Medium aroma. Farmhouse apple with some tart cherry.
Initial Taste: Medium bite from carbonation and acidity. Quickly tart, somewhat puckering bold cherry flavour that is slightly candied. Farmhouse forward with some mild acetic notes.
After Taste: Cherry remains and becomes more maraschino-like. Creamy, green apple-esque notes make a brief appearance. Gritty, slightly tart finish. Lingers awhile, including in the throat.
On ice: Reduced carbonation. Smoother mouthfeel and elements.

Additional Notes:  A unique take on a tart cherry cider, the Sonata from Revel is sour and funky. This cider doesn’t have a lot of traditional apple taste, it’s focused more on the cherry and fermentation process resulting in something a little different.  With some mild candied, maraschino-like flavours, it helps to balance the bold tart cherry flavours and other farmhouse elements. Imagine a fermented cherry jolly ranger and you’re close for this.
