Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Punchy, semi-tart black currant. Mild apple flesh.
Initial Taste: Minimal bite from carbonation. Quick hit of acidic and syrupy black currant. Fleshy dessert apple.
After Taste: Black currant becomes more dominant and more defined. Berry becomes a bit candied and smoother here. Ends on some mild earthy undertones along with thicker black currant berry notes.
On ice: Thinner body. Black currant pops more at the cost of the apple notes.
Additional Notes: McQuade’s Black Currant cider is a strong black currant offering that features apples second. It starts off with acidic, tart and syrupy black currant flavours, with a short stint of fleshy dessert apple. It becomes almost exclusively black currant in the finish, retaining the heavier berry notes that become candied and show some of their natural earthiness at the end. Black currant is heavy but not a heavy cider to drink – especially if you add ice it becomes thinner bodied.
