Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Rich and tart blueberry. Mild lavender notes.
Initial Taste: Mild bite from carbonation and acidity. Quick strong blueberry. Slightly tangy. Medley of dessert apples are the base of the cider but not very impactful on the flavour.
After Taste: Blueberry becomes smoother and semi-creamy. Lavender lightly appears. Off-dry finish, with mild sour and earthy notes. Hints of vanilla and allspice.
On ice: Thinner mouthfeel. Reduces flavour and blueberry grit. Loses definition.
Additional Notes: Brickworks’s third Ciderhouse Series Release, the Purple Road delivered on its promised flavours of blueberry and lavender, in particular being very blueberry forward from start to finish. A mild lavender note pokes through near the finish but far from being very floral or perfume-like giving the cider a bit of an earthy edge. A fruity offering that isn’t too sweet. Authentic blueberry flavour that does indeed taste a bit wild, but could be more if it was not filtered.
