Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Strong aroma. Syrupy, maple forward. Slightly candied. Crisp, dessert apple base.
Initial Taste: Medium bite from carbonation. Crisp, acidity-driven apple but quite clean. Culinary apple base that’s bright, forward and vivid. Candied maple right upfront.
After Taste: Macintosh-like notes here. Maple becomes deeper in nature + more syrupy/sap like. Maple lingers beyond the apple.
On ice: Reduced apple intensity and less maple.
Additional Notes: Joli Rouge’s Érable showcases two of the best of Quebec offerings – maple syrup and traditional apple cider using culinary apples. It features a driving acidity upfront, with a bright, clean and vivid apple forward base throughout. The maple starts off a bit more candied, but then becomes a deeper flavour, less sweet, more syrupy/sap like in the finish. The maple lingers longer than the apple base does.
