Cider Crate Tasting Notes:

Smell: Medium aroma. Sharp apples. Earthy ginger. Hint of lime zest.
Initial Taste: Medium bite. Quick medley of lime and ginger. Zesty, zingy, earthy. Hint of baked apple but apples are softer.
After Taste: Apples become more obvious, more crisp and juice-forward. Ginger fades slowly, with lime peel remaining the longest.
On ice: Reduces lime and ginger – more apple focused. More ginger ale-like.

Additional Notes:  Hounds of Erie’s Bark & Bite is their new flavoured cider with ginger and lime. Drinking a bit like a moscow mule, the ginger aroma is stronger than the taste. But you are quickly greeted with both added flavours, in a medley that works. The ginger is the first thing to fade, but it becomes more ginger ale/soda like-in the finish. The limes are a bit zesty. Apples are mostly hidden upfront, but their sharp characteristics come out near the end. The lime is the longest lasting flavour element. If you like dry-hopped ciders, it shares a lot of essences with that category.
