Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Funky pear peel. Tequila notes, including astringency. Oak.
Initial Taste: Mild bite from acidity. Quick funk and farmhouse notes. Gritty pear peel and flesh. Some bitterness and spirit harshness. Citrus hints.
After Taste: Tequila nuances come through here, including agave and oak from barreling. Pear weakens. Barreling and spirit notes linger after pear dissipates.
On ice: Thinner body. Reduced flavours, in particular pear. Weakened spirit notes.
Additional Notes: Ev’s Eclectics Pear-Adise is a lighter than anticipated tequila barrel-aged perry that is decently sessionable. Starting off more as a generic funk base, pear notes come through early on, being with both gritty peel and juicy flesh characteristics. There is some tequila astringency early, but it is only into the aftertaste that you really get the tequila nuanced flavours, like agave and oak from the barreling. A lighter than your standard offering for being spirit barrel aged. Light but with a lot of flavour notes still.
