Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Juicy black currant, slight tartness. Mixed berry notes.
Initial Taste: Medium bite from carbonation. A deep black currant that’s juicy and semi-tart. Mild fleshy dessert apple. Slightly earthy.
After Taste: Becomes brighter and more juice-focused. Some cranberry and raspberry like notes. Cleans out quickly.
On ice: Thinner body. Less juicy black currant notes.
Additional Notes: Downey’s Black Currant Cider is a lighter-than-your-average black currant cider, but still it’s got the juice. Starting off with a deep and semi-dank black currant, it becomes more-juicy and brighter in the finish. The black currant also presents some cranberry and raspberry-like notes in the finish, maybe also some blackberry. Not a lot of apple, but what’s there is fleshy dessert apples. 7% but tastes a bit lighter than that.
