Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Light aroma. Pulpy, bright apple. Some acidity. Faint maple.
Initial Taste: No bite. Light, semi-bright and semi-sweet apple base. Smooth, candied maple noticeable. Slightly thicker consistency to other ciders. Earthy apple characteristics with a hint of booziness intertwined.
After Taste: Light earthier maple essences emerge as the apple becomes softer. Lingering apple notes for a bit.
On ice: Thinner mouthfeel. Cleaner notes. Less maple.
Additional Notes: Cidrerie Verger Pednault’s Maple Flavoured Cider comes in a 375ml bottle, but it is not fortified, though you might assume it from this style. At 6.5%, it’s a lighter mouthfeel but does have a bit of a thicker consistency than your standard cider. Bright, semi-sweet apples, with little tannins from start to finish – including an earthy note. Maple is more present near the end with a light infusion. Cleaner on ice but even less maple to be found.
