Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Dry, crisp, pulpy apple.
Initial Taste: Minimal bite from carbonation. Semi-crisp, bright, dessert apple base. Some red varietal skin notes, amongst the apple flesh. Some tannins but not intense.
After Taste: A streak of wild apple characteristics emerge briefly, becoming a bit earthy apple in the end. Decently clean finish, with only the mildest lingering apple notes.
On ice: Reduced body and crispness. Slightly less apple.
Additional Notes: Hailing from Canada’s first “native-owned brewery on an Indigenous territory”, Kahnawake Brewing has ventured into their first cider, aptly named their Dry Apple Cider. Clearly a cider made from the land and with intention, it’s a bright, semi-crisp cider, featuring apples commonly found in many Quebec-based ciders.. You get some red varietal skin notes upfront, as well as creamy, apple flesh notes. In the end it becomes a bit more earthy and natural tasting, with even a quick hint of wild apple note in the middle.
