Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Dry, fleshy apple. Gritty spice – clove, allspice. Hints of cinnamon.
Initial Taste: Medium bite from carbonation. Hefty mulling spices like clove upfront. Dry apples, possibly Macintosh notes. Black tea + tannin.
After Taste: Spices become softer and a warming cinnamon appears. Apples dwindle. The odd lingering spice note on the palate.
On ice: Reduced flavour and impact of spices.
Additional Notes: Lacroix’s Chai Cider is a dry offering, with a decent amount of chai notes – both spices and black tea noticeable. The apples taste mcintosh-focused, and they are mainly upfront. As well, some of the grittier, earthier, and more bitter spice notes – like clove and allspice -upfront too. It becomes mostly tea-like in the finish, with black tea (and their tannins), and spices noticeable here. Some cinnamon near the end also. Light bodied.
