Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Strong aroma. Acidic, bright sharp apples. Some fermentation notes and bitterness.
Initial Taste: Light bite. A quick initial crispness. Smooth bitter sharp apples, with some peel notes. Fermentation notes + astringency are present but overall very light..
After Taste: Apple base weakens, becomes more flat flavoured. Not long lingering, though some bitter notes stick around.
On ice: Almost all carbonation and apple flavours gone. Very tonic-like.
Additional Notes: The Hammer Bent Original Cider is a dry cider that is light in apple flavour and is a lot about the fermentation process. The apple flavour is upfront, being more peel focused, and bitter sharp in nature. However, this cider becomes thinner near the finish, with more astringency and fermentation notes poking through. Not a juicy or apple forward cider but it captures a lot of flavours of the processes used to make it it seems. A thin, soft mouthfeel overall.
