Cider Crate Tasting Notes:

Smell: Strong aroma. Sour, pungent, dank apples. Savoury floral notes. Light citrus.
Initial Taste: Strong bite from acidity and sourness – quickly puckering. Zesty lemon notes from sumac. Peppery. Bone dry apple base that’s dank, funky and has heritage + crab characteristics.
After Taste: Crab apple notes more defined. Sourness slowly dwindles. Savoury floral notes emerge that linger with whispers of sumac and yellow goldenrod remaining. Some film remains.
On ice: Reduced body. Sourness is largely reduced. More floral forward at times.

Additional Notes:  Revel’s Slow & Steady is another floral infused cider from this cidery – this time with sumac and goldenrod. This is a very quickly puckering sour cider right off the top – it may make you wince and salivate. Adding to the sourness is some lemon zest like notes – presumably from the sumac. The apple base is bone dry – seemingly having crab and heritage notes within. The sourness lingers a long time, but as it weakens, some of the savoury floral notes from the golden rod emerge, with a little bit of the sumac punchiness staying. Do not drink if you can’t handle some pungency and bold sourness or drink it on some ice if too strong.
