Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Strong aroma. Sweet, candied blackberry. Some dessert apples.
Initial Taste: Minimal bite from carbonation. Heavy blackberry notes that are semi-tart, semi-acidic and bright. Hints of other berries like strawberries. Fleshy, juicy apple is balanced at the first sip but dissipates quickly..
After Taste: Blackberries become a bit sweeter and creamier. Hints of apple juice remain. Ends on a candied blackberry that lingers awhile.
On ice: Decently watered down overall – flavour and body.
Additional Notes: Reinhart’s 4th LCBO release, the strong Blackberry Cider is a blackberry-heavy cider as the name implies. Less tart and earthy than the fruit itself, it is bright and becomes more candied as the beverage goes on. The apple base is secondary in flavour strength to the blackberry but it is fleshy and juicy. Blackberries add a bit of a heavier mouthfeel but not syrupy. A very bright and fun cider that doesn’t taste 7%.

Love this variant on a cider. Very tasty, fruity, not too sweet. Blackberry flavour is a welcome change to the dry, apple crisp, granny smith style of cider I have been accustomed to. Actually less sweet with a little more zing (7%) which is a challenge I know in distilling. Good stuff. Plan to buy more.
