Cider Crate Tasting Notes:

Smell: Medium aroma. Pulpy apple. Some earthy elements.
Initial Taste: Light bite from carbonation. Balanced, astringent boozy apples, with pulpy, uplifting Golden Russet juiciness. Starts off with a bit of earthiness which builds as time goes. Barreling is noticeable, but not overly. A touch of bitterness before the aftertaste kicks in.
After Taste: Tannins and more earthiness noted in the long-lingering aftertaste where skins are noticeable.
On ice: Overall dramatically reduced, with little acidity left.

Additional Notes:  Last House’s 2023 Cidre Pétillant Golden Russet has quite the journey from balanced thick bright apple upfront to a more tannic, rustic, earthy long-lasting finish.  A bit acidic upfront as well as some light bubbles. On ice you lose a lot of body and flavour.  Barreling helps to bring out all of the elements but does not distract from the finished product.  Compared to the 2022, it’s even more full-bodied, intense but still remaining very consumable.  A fantastic example of an Ontario yellow apple.
