Cider Crate Tasting Notes:

Smell: Mild aroma. Earthy, natural apple. Hints of vanilla and bourbon.
Initial Taste: Light bite from carbonation and acidity. Quick natural, gritty apple peel. Notes of wildflower honey. Mild farmhouse funk and oak hints.
After Taste: Mouthfeel becomes heavier. Becomes a more flavour forward experience. Heavier apples and increased bitterness. More alcoholic notes. Ends dry.
On ice: Reduced flavour and mouthfeel.

Additional Notes:  Kings Mill’s Russet Squared is an unexpected offering in many ways. It’s 13% but does not in any way taste that strong – but you do get a nice alcoholic kick in the finish. Its also a very aftertaste-focused cider. It starts more delicate, some tannins and notes of oak and honey. Then the body and flavour get much more intense. Becomes a heavier apple and grittier in the finish, lingering for a very long time. A dry experience. A dangerously easy to consume cider for the ABV and for how smooth it is. Might take a few sips to really dissect what is going on, like for us.

Kings Mill has closed, and sold to Port Cider – nothing from them will be available going forward.
