Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Bright fleshy apple. Tangy blood orange.
Initial Taste: Medium bite from carbonation. Tart but mostly dry apple. Semi-gripping acidity that’s lemon-like. A tangy and sharp citrus that has a slightly heavy mouthfeel. Generic orange notes.
After Taste: Blood orange becomes more defined but not overly dominant. Acidity slowly dwindles. The dry apple base lingers with mild fermentation/alcoholic notes staying.
On ice: Carbonation heavily reduced. Slightly less tangy and sharp.
Additional Notes: Howell Road’s Blood Orange is a mostly dry cider that features blood orange in a way we haven’t seen yet in a cider. Tart, tangy, acidic and sharp, it’s gripping for the palate. A dry apple base remains throughout, but its also semi-bright. The blood orange is more of a generic orange/citrus flavour at first, becoming more blood orange defined into the finish.
