Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Minimal aroma. Some soft pear-like elements.
Initial Taste: Light bite. Smooth and clean soft quince – elements remind us more of a non-alcoholic pear with little fermentation notes. A touch of natural sweetness, it has minimal tannin or acidity. Short upfront flavour profile with some earthy elements.
After Taste: Lasts longer than expected with a bit of a film, it’s more earthy and has a sorbitol finish (unfermentable sugar).
On ice: Reduces carbonation and overall mouth feel
Additional Notes: Heeman’s Quince is possibly the first Ontario offering we have come across. Described as like a cross between an apple and pear, the fruit quince, this single varietal made with it is easy drinking, smooth and fresh. With minimal fermentation elements, it has a slightly earthy finish that has a bit of sweetness to it. Reminds us of a fresh asian pear. A lighter quincer (quince cider) option than others we’ve tried.
