Cider Crate Tasting Notes:

Smell: Medium aroma. Tannic bittersharp. Pulpy, semi-caramelized apple notes. Boozy.
Initial Taste: Medium bite from carbonation, Quickly astringent and highly tannic, becoming gripping on the palate. Acidity drives the apple notes beside tannins.
After Taste: As tannins weaken, apple notes become brighter and more caramelized, slightly creamier – but some tannin does linger awhile. Black tea and pear-like notes. Long-lasting.
On ice: Dramatically reduces tannins and therefore mouthfeel. A thinner, less bodied cider.

Additional Notes:  As part of their single varietal series using rare and unique cider apples, Heeman’s Porter’s Perfection is a rich, highly tannic experience that is very gripping and astringent. The beginning of the profile is tannin dominated, with the mouthfeel and acidity driving the experience. Then you get more of a caramelized apple body as the tannins weaken, making it slightly creamy overall. Black tea-like notes emerge at the finish.
