Cider Crate Tasting Notes:

Smell: Strong aroma. Strong bittersweet apple. Hint of funk and sourness.
Initial Taste: Medium bite from carbonation. Crisp and acidic. A quick bittersweet apple, aged, tasting a bit bruised and caramelized. Hints of funk amongst the cellaring.
After Taste: Apple becomes a bit earthier, and a bit powdery. Lingering natural earthy apple with saline notes.
On ice: Thinner mouthfeel, less carbonation + body. Slightly reduced apple.

Additional Notes: As a part of their Single Varietal Series, Heeman’s has released their Harry Masters Jersey, a traditional cider apple used in English cider-making. This is an extra crisp bittersweet cider – nothing but the apples here. They taste bruised, aged and a bit caramelized. A good amount of tannin, acidity and crispness greet you strongly upfront. The apples are bright, but become a bit more caramelized and drier as you go on – they also linger a bit. A bit powdery of a flavour and mouthfeel also. Ice strips a lot of its purpose.
