Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Bright, acetic apples. Some honey notes.
Initial Taste: Medium bite from carbonation and acidity that impacts for a while. Creamy and sharp, tangy apple, with volatile acidity and earthiness. Medium acetic and funky aspects.
After Taste: Apple becomes more focused in flavour, with various heritage apple notes becoming more defined. Crisp, semi-tart finish. Long lingering elements on the palate, including acetic notes.
On ice: Flavour and intensity greatly reduced. More cooling, less clean.
Additional Notes: The Northern Gold by Grey & Gold may be one of those ciders that you have to sip a few times to grasp all the elements happening. There are many layers to both the apple flavour notes and the fermentation-based, volatile acidic aspects in the cider. The apple base is defined as being bright and crisp, while also being tangy and funky. A lot going on but it is decently decently sour.
