Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Tart cranberry. Some effervescent apples.
Initial Taste: Medium bite from carbonation. Tart cranberry juice diluted with sharp apple. Slight acidity and mustiness.
After Taste: Becomes mostly cranberry here, and a bit astringent from the natural juice elements. Long lingering cranberry notes. Some minerality and saline flavours.
On ice: Thinner body. Cranberry flavour remains, but mouthfeel elements reduce.
Additional Notes: Not a Still Life by Farmgate is their first foray into flavoured ciders. Made with cranberry juice, it is also a lower ABV option, with this session cider being 3.4%. It’s hefty on the cranberry juice – from first appearance, to smell, to flavour from start to finish. The cranberry is tart and astringent (drying for the mouth), but also very fruit-forward. The apple base has familiar Farmgate notes to it, but it doesn’t linger on the palate the same way the cranberry does. Long lasting, with some minerality and saline notes at the finish. Very dry.
