Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Bright dry fermented apples. Some booziness, no sweet elements.
Initial Taste: Light bite from carbonation. Starts off somewhat soft and bright. Apple grows dramatically as the added ice cider starts to come through. Lots of body with a mix of sweet and dry. Hint of barreling.
After Taste: After the apple peaks, a long-lasting drier, more tart and boozy finish happens. Much less clean, it has some earthy elements as it finishes.
On ice: Minimal change, a little less apple.
Additional Notes: Domaine Lafrance’s Cidre Mousseux is a dry cider blended with ice cider that adds a touch of sweetness, but also bunch of booziness. This results in a very unique journey. It starts off dry, smooth, pulpy and light. Apple elements build as the ice cider blends and become strong, with a peak of juicy apple flavour after 2 or 3 seconds. Once that peak hits, the apple drops out and becomes a longer lasting, somewhat less clean and more earthy finish. Is a higher sugar content due to the ice cider infusion.
