Cider Crate Tasting Notes:

Smell: Medium aroma. Some vanilla bourbon with astringent notes and caramel apples
Initial Taste: No bite. Light, smoky bourbon paired with tannic, semi-dry empire apples that are delicate and semi-smooth.  Woody and vanilla bourbon – reminiscent of perfume. Hints of booze and pumpkin spice.
After Taste: Intensity builds as your consume, remaining a long time with some apple and bourbon definition. Slightly wine-like at the end.
On ice: Less smooth, more spirit focused. More astringency. Apple notes watered down.

Additional Notes:  The All Hallows’ Eve by Cold Creek Vineyard (2024 edition) is a bourbon barrel-aged cider that pairs well alongside their other offerings but is still a deviation from their portfolio in some ways. Compared to previous years it’s a little smoother, less apple, less sour and a touch sweeter.  It starts off bourbon focused, firstly with a quick hint of spirit astringency, then those notes become smoother and more smoky + oaky. It lingers a long time with the tannic empire apples. Not overly astringent compared to other barrel-aged offerings, it has a lot to offer and is at 10.6%.
