Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Rustic, bright apples. Some funk but also pulp and juice.
Initial Taste: Strong bite from carbonation, as there is a lot in this pet-nat. Bright, juicy apples that are clean with a bit of tannic and hint of smooth funk and acidity. Effervescent and a lot of body, though still pretty dry.
After Taste: Lingers a long time, with stronger peel finish. Hint of minerality from the acidity that lingers.
On ice: Slightly reduced overall mouthfeel, more wine-like than champagne.
Additional Notes: If you are a fan of full-bodied, lively and crisp apple forward ciders, then the Aurore by Clos Shanouk is for you. Bright juicy apples with a bit of peel that brings with it some acidity and a touch of tannins. Golden Russet and Empire notes all over this one. Lingers a while and becomes more peel like in the aftertaste. Quite clean, a bit of sweetness and a lot of carbonation in this pet-nat style offering.
