Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Spiced apple tea. Some lemon. Creamy, pulpy apple.
Initial Taste: Minimal bite from carbonation. Pulpy, semi-crisp, fresh-tasting apple. Citric acid-taste.Semi-creamy body and whipped vanilla notes. A lightly spiced apple tea note.
After Taste: A lemon tea note comes through. Hints of cardamom. Apple becomes drier, retaining some crispness. Apple notes linger awhile. Finished relatively clean.
On ice: Slightly thinner. Less spiced apple expression.
Additional Notes: Brooker’s Natural Dry 2023 Batch 5 Cider is an exploration in the unique flavour expressions that apples can present naturally. It honestly tastes like a spiced apple tea at points, without a drop of tea to be found. It has a pulpy, semi-crisp apple base that could be mixed up for a fresh sweet cider at points. Creamy, it also has some citric apple notes. Then comes a spice tea note, nothing too bold as there are no adjuncts, but notes of cinnamon and cardamom seem to be tasted. It becomes more of a black lemon tea note in the finish. Long-lingering pulpy notes. Has honey within, maybe adding to some of the unique flavour expressions, but not necessarily a lot of “honey” flavour notes.
