Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Light aroma. Tart blueberry. Red wine-like notes.
Initial Taste: Light bite. Thick, muddled, semi-tart blueberry. Earthy/natural notes with some fermentation and astringency. Mild dry apple.
After Taste: Apple comes out a bit more as blueberry thins out. Becomes more wine-like. Dry finish with lingering cider notes.
On ice: Thinner body – less carbonation. Watered down blueberries.
Additional Notes: Banjo’s Bluegrass is a decently blueberry-forward experience with the apples being secondary here. The blueberries are muddled and very natural tasting, with a bit of tartness, and this amounts to a heavier cider body as a result. Blueberries are strongest upfront, and as they dwindle, it allows for the apples to come through more so. Some fruit tannins from the blueberry and a heavier body, we think this would appeal to red wine drinkers. Might be good poured on ice cream.
