Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Bright, sweet, concentrate-like apples. Some grit.
Initial Taste: Medium bite. Pulpy apple with a bunch of dessert apple peel. Tonic-like notes. Sweeter apple concentrate body and tasting notes.
After Taste: Becomes slightly drier, as apple notes weaken slowly. More peel-focused here. Some elements linger awhile.
On ice: Becomes drier, carbonation more pronounced. Less sweet and pulpy.
Additional Notes: Ashton Brewing in Ottawa, Ontario, decided to get into the cider making game with their first release, the Ashton Cider House. This is a rustic countryside brewery inspired by England and this cider embodies this, with strong memories of a Strongbow Original with this. This has a lot of apple pulp and peel notes – as well as some apple concentrate flavour notes and body. A tingly cider, you get some tonic notes from the carbonation. Absolutely a pub-drinking cider.
