Cider Crate Tasting Notes:

Smell: Medium aroma. Sweet bourbon with mild apples. Some fermentation.
Initial Taste: Medium bite from acidity. Quick heavy wood/oak flavours, with a bit of spirit astringency. Apples are pulpy and somewhat fresh tasting. Mild bourbon and vanilla undertones.
After Taste: Becomes smoother with apples remaining almost the same, but tasting slightly more tannic and unfiltered in nature. Ends dry, with some spirit and astringent notes lingering.
On ice: Dramatically reduces fermentation and spirit notes. Much smoother and more apple forward.

Additional Notes: The Devil’s Cut from Front Road Ciderworks is a dry and bold bourbon-barrel-aged offering, that we think would still be approachable to most. Starting off with heavier barreling and fermentation flavours, it ends on more so the apple and becomes smoother to finish. Apples taste pulpy and almost unfiltered. You get some softer bourbon notes like vanilla, but it’s more about the spirit-barreling process thats noticeable (oak/wood, astringency, etc). It’s almost a completely different drink on ice as it removes a lot of the harsh alcohol notes and makes it a much smoother experience.
