Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Light aroma. Black tea. Lemon zest. Mild apples peak through.
Initial Taste: Sharp, semi-sour sensation that’s almost tingly on the lips and tongue. Smooth black tea that tastes sweetened but not sugary. Lemon zest and juice notes that are not acidic. Mild semi-sweet bright apples.
After Taste: Apples dwindles but black tea remains. Some light tannins. Ends mostly dry. Average length in mouthfeel.
On ice: Weakened body. Apple and lemon are reduced. Black tea remains the same.
Additional Notes: Slabtown’s Lemon Tea Cider stands out in a crowd. They did a very good job at replicating the sweet black tea with lemon commonly consumed in the lower United States, especially. A very unique start to this cider – instead of the carbonation or acidity greeting you like most ciders, its a sharp sensation that is almost tingly and sour, maybe from the lemon addition. The black tea tastes sweetened and remains consistent throughout. Lemon juice and zest appear, mostly upfront but are not acidic. The apple is mild but bright. Pretty flavour forward overall even with the lower numbers on our scale below.
