Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Strong aroma. Earthy elderflower. Tart apple. Hop-like notes. Citrus.
Initial Taste: Medium bite. Quickly sour and tart. Pungent elements. Funky apple. Earthy floral notes. Acetic elements. Tastes dry-hopped.
After Taste: Floral aspects become slightly sweeter, becoming more elderflower defined. Sourness slowly weakens. Orange and citrusy undertones.
On ice: Slightly smoother, no flavour change.
Additional Notes: The County Elderflower Sour is not what we were expecting or remember having it on tap in 2019. A depth of sourness, its got some acetic and pungent aspects and is long lingering. The floral flavour is rather earthy and generic at least first, becoming more elderflower focused into the aftertaste. Funky apples, little sweetness to them. Decently dry, almost dank at moments and could be puckering for some. A very strong deviation from most of the County flavoured offerings. The flavour reminds us of some dry-hopped ciders. A good choice for sour beer fans.
