Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Earthy and pulpy apple with a hint of farmhouse funk.
Initial Taste: Strong bite. Quickly acidic and funky apple with bitter-sharp . Tartness. Lemon and mild wood notes. Farmhouse undertones.
After Taste: Once the carbonation reduces, apples drop leaving a longer lingering, acidic and funky finish. Lots of fermentation elements.
On ice: Less tart. A touch less acidic.
Additional Notes: The Farmgate Wild Apple is funky and acidic, but not overpowering cider made with wild apples. A mix of sharp apples that are higher acid, lower tannin. Mostly dry, and pretty apple forward. A lot of flavour and pop, with some citric notes. Has both sophistication and wild farmhouse elements. The 2020 version cleaned out in the aftertaste, the 2024 version has a much different finish that’s more intensive (lso appears to be filtered or at least a lot clearer).
