Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Strong sweet cranberry – slightly candied in nature. Hints of rustic apples.
Initial Taste: Medium bite, quick puckering sour taste and sensation that builds. Tart cranberry flavour.
After Taste: Cranberry flavour continues to build, becoming sweeter while remaining tart. Apple flavour mildly appears. Dry and bitter finish.
On ice: Carbonation is cut. Minimal change.
Additional Notes: Cranberry is king for this cider, as it is mostly cranberry tasting with minimal apple (which is crisp and semi-bitter). This is not a subtle, mild cider – it is full bodied and may better appeal to wine fans from the tartness and dryness, than with beginner cider fans. 401 Brewery’s Cranberry has a very authentic cranberry flavour and feel overall. Updated in their 2023 Winter Series which is a lot less sour.
