Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Bright and also gritty/earthy apple notes. Floral and pineapple. Hints of sulphur.
Initial Taste: Medium carbonic bite into the senses. Tart and acidic. Pineapple flesh elements. Earthy apple. Savoury floral. Some bitterness.
After Taste: Becomes more apple focused notes. Juicy pineapple and tropical notes remain. Long lingering apple peel grit and bitterness.
On ice: Carbonation reduced a lot. A more smooth cider with flavours blending better into one another.
Additional Notes: Carolinia’s 2023 Pink Lady is a single varietal that has a lot of unique flavour expressions within. It starts off tart and acidic, actually leading into a fresh, fleshy pineapple taste. Savoury floral and bitterness are unexpected flavours. While there are some earthy apple notes upfront, they don’t really define until the aftertaste. The pineapple adds a general tropical flavour to it, with the apple peel grit of the Pink Lady coming through. Lingers awhile, including some bitterness in the throat. It’s a very sensory cider from the variety of flavour notes that challenges almost all tasting map regions of the tongue (like bitterness), carbonic bite from the bubbles that can go up in the senses/nose and unique aromas.
