Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Strong aroma. Caramelized, pulpy apple. Bittersweet notes. Touch of funk.
Initial Taste: Medium bite. Quick acidic and slightly tart apples. Sharp elements – including some semi-gripping tannins – and crispness. Some peel notes with a bittersweet quality. Some caramelized, bruised apple.
After Taste: When the apple dissipates, an extra dry, semi-tannic finish emerges. Some funk and earthiness but still holds the same body profile.
On ice: Reduced tartness and sourness.
Additional Notes: The Little Cider Company’s Single Varietal Dabinett showcases this bittersweet apple on full display, with its tart, funky and dry bittersweet elements. A lot of intensity in this, as you can guess by colour even before you drink. Its sharp off the top – driven by the acidity, there are some tannins, but not overly gripping. Its crisp, from start to finish, well showcasing all of the elements of the Dabinett. Definetely a dry cider overall, with some caramalized and bruised apple notes. A bit of funk at the finish. Very fruity, apple-forward.
