Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Strong aroma. Earthy, gritty apple but also bright. A bit funky.
Initial Taste: Minimal bite from carbonation. Quickly an earthy and tangy apple – McIntosh juice and peel- heavy especially. Some tartness. Crisp red varietal peel. Some mild fermentation and funk notes.
After Taste: Becomes juicer tasting – minimal fermentation notes here – Crimson Crisp notes really shining here. Long lasting McIntosh – including some earthiness.
On ice: Reduced body, less “juicy” tasting overall.
Additional Notes: Dirty Dog’s Mac N’Crisp is a juicy cider, beaming with red apple varietal notes – especially McIntosh. Starting off very tangy and acidic, it’s an earthy and gritty McIntosh apple note that starts you off, especially the peel flavour. It becomes juicer and a bit more flesh-influenced in the finish – with the Crimson Crisp notes coming through. Upfront, you get the fermentation and funk notes, making way for a “freshly pressed apple juice tasting experience” in the finish. Very crisp, very craft tasting. Rustic and dry.
