Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Extra strong aroma. Rich, syrupy, toasted maple. Punchy rosemary. Hints of cream.
Initial Taste: Minimal bite. Toasted, rich, sweet maple sap and syrup – also makes for a heavier mouthfeel. Crisp, tangy, caramel apple. Savoury rosemary thats a bit punchy. Coffee hints.
After Taste: Bold elements weaken slowly – especially the maple. Maple becomes a bit more candied and “maple-sugar-like”, but continues to resonate – long lasting on the palate. Apple tastes especially caramelized here. Smoky hints.
On ice: Thinner for sure. Maple tastes watered down, less rich.
Additional Notes: If you want a bold maple-flavoured cider, Coffin Ridge’s “Brush with Death” Maple Rosemary Cider might be your answer. This has a strong, sweet maple flavour from the start to the finish – tasting like it just came out of the maple evaporator being warming, toasted and syrupy. It makes for a caramelized body that’s a bit creamy and smoky too, and it adds a thicker mouthfeel as a result. You do get some punchy, savoury rosemary as well, also seemingly enhancing the maple flavour. The apple base is crisp, caramelized, acidic and sharp. Overall, the maple is dominate and it slowly burns on the palate, leaving long lasting maple candy + syrup notes.
