Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Tart, bitter, sea buckthorn. Some fermentation + funk.
Initial Taste: Tingly carbonation, minimal bite. Quick and forceful sea buckthorn berry (Eastern North America). Slightly tart with citrus notes. Gooseberry-like + golden berry notes notes. Pulpy, thin apple.
After Taste: Blueberry-like fermentation notes emerge. Bright, sea buckthorn notes continue on. Some apple fleshy flavour and body noticeable, but mostly golden berry notes to conclude.
On ice: Thinner body. Reduced flavour and less sea buckthorn.
Additional Notes: Cidrerie Famille Tremblay – Cidre aromatisé pétillant à l’argousier has a forceful sea buckthorn berry flavour throughout. Not skimping on this lesser-known berry, it tastes like a golden tart blueberry and gooseberry with citrus hints. Dry, it has a bit of funk and fermentation, but is driven by the berry. The apple is secondary but it adds a bit of pulpy notes, and a bit of creaminess to the body. Long lasting flavour notes.
