Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Bright peel-forward with some rustic/cellering elements.
Initial Taste: Light bite from natural carbonation. Creamy, sharp apples and some tannic notes. Somewhat uplifting body and flavour to start. Although a bit of acidity and intensity, it’s relatively apple-forward and clean + smooth bodied. A touch of sweetness and notes from the maple.
After Taste: Becomes a little more dank and earthy in the finish. Mild peel note. More fermentation notes come through as does maple syrup in the end (but not sugary).
On ice: Slightly reduced flavour
Additional Notes: 1818 Farm & Cider’s Lost & Found is a unique offering. First, it had a stronger carbon release when opened, but after settling down its somewhat lightly sparkled. Upfront, it starts clean with a blend of acidic sharp apples that are creamy with a little tannin. Hint of citrus, and a touch of maple, it becomes a bit more dank and oaky in the aftertaste. A lighter body overall, somewhat complex, but not gritty like some similar in its category.
