Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Strong aroma. Medium rhubarb. Funky apple. Fermentation notes.
Initial Taste: Medium bite. Sharp and tart rhubarb bite. Some bitterness from rhubarb also. Tannic, dry apple base. Tangy fruits.
After Taste: Becomes smoother, with more funk and fermentation notes coming out. Saline hints. Apples become more dessert-variety-focused. Lingering astringency.
On ice: Less sharp, a slightly smoother rhubarb. Carbonation also reduced.
Additional Notes: Twin Pine’s Basket House Rhubarb does not skimp on all the elements and boldness of rhubarb so you have to like this vegetable (yes its a vegetable) to enjoy this. Right off the bat, you get a sharp, tart flavour and sensation of rhubarb that’s dry and earthy. It does mellow out but remains tart until the end. The apple base is dry and tannic, with some dessert bittersharp notes in the finish. Funk, fermentation and astringency add depth. Enjoy on ice if it’s too strong.
