Cider Crate Tasting Notes:

Smell: Medium aroma. Blend of hops and citrus notes. Dry, sharp apple.
Initial Taste: Medium bite. Some tannin and driving acidity. A bright pulpy orange emerges quickly. Various hop notes, including citra, spruce and resin-like notes. Earthy apples, with a hint of funk. Creamy from the lactose.
After Taste: Orange becomes more juice-like, as hops smooth out. Some fermentation and bitter notes here. Apple becomes softer, and drier. Tastes jammy from the orange in the finish.
On ice: Dramatically reduced in intensity. Lighter mouthfeel.

Additional Notes:  1818 Farm & Cidery’s Boys Brunch is a lively and bright hopped cider made with orange zest, 4 types of hops and lactose. Right off the start, a pulpy orange note emerges – amongst some of the bolder hops’ notes like citra, spruce and pine. The apple base is very dry, and a bit funky at times. The apples become softer in the finish, with the orange tasting more juice-like. The lactose adds some creaminess and we assume helps counter some of the bitterness and strong hops notes. Think a sophisticated orange creamsicle cider thats on the drier cider.
