Cider Crate Tasting Notes:

Smell: Medium aroma. Caramelized, bruised apple. Cellaring notes. Booziness.
Initial Taste: Mild bite from carbonation. Quickly into a caramelized, baked apple note. Tannic and acidic. Cellaring/mustiness. Astringency and boozy flavour.
After Taste: Apple becomes brighter as other elements weaken. Some tannins linger, well after the crisp apple base fades. Banana-like hints.
On ice: Thinner on acid. Dramatically cuts acidity. Apple base is smoother, but less impactful and crisp.

Additional Notes:  In part of their unique single varietal series, Heeman’s Muscadet de Dieppe is using a classic French cider apple that we’ve never seen in a single varietal yet. This is a great introduction to this cider apple, and you really can taste the DNA backbone of what defines Normandy style ciders in this. Rather acidic and tannic, you get a lot of the baked caramelization notes in this as you would a proper cider from the region, but thinner bodied and less rich. Decently astringent and boozy, it’s very crisp and bright – becoming even more so in the finish.
