Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Strong aroma. Acidity. Pulpy apple. Farmhouse funk. Mild savoury floral.
Initial Taste: Medium bite from carbonation. Dry apple characteristic medley, including heritage notes. Bold green pepper-like notes + vegetal, earthy notes. Slightly sour and bitter.
After Taste: Vegetal notes weaken and apples become softer and slightly creamy. Light white flower floral influences. Lingering flavours.
On ice: Minimal change.
Additional Notes: Continuing in their series of small batch, artisanal ciders made with unique ingredients, the Elderflower by Grey & Gold is an earthy and savoury experience. Not like commercialized elderflower flavours you may be use to (ie. heavily sweetened), this is bone dry and features earthy and savoury floral notes. From the top, you get a medley of apple notes, including some heritage flavours and tannins. But also a unique green pepper + vegetal-like flavour. Apples become creamy in the finish. We couldn’t distinguish a specific elderflower note, but a more generic white floral taste.
