Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Strong aroma. Sweet apple concentrate.
Initial Taste: Mild bite. Very crisp apple that has a lot of peel and flesh flavour. Sweet/sweetened. Dessert green apples notes, and a bit of red apple characteristics too.
After Taste: Remains sweet, a bit cloying even. Crisp apple notes remain in the mouth awhile. Some film.
On ice: Slightly reduced sweetness
Additional Notes: Bumper Crop’s Crisp Apple is a 7% cider that likely has been chappelized (Sugar added to the cider to increase alcohol percentage then add back water or apple juice). A sweet offering, it came across as cloying at times to us. You get a lot of apple characteristics here, tasting a bit from concentrate. A lot of peel and flesh characteristics, there are both green and red apple varieties detectable. It is indeed crisp apple base, despite carbonated water being the first listed ingredient, which could have made it cider-seltzer or RTD-like. If you like Somersby, this is a more apple-forward version of this. If it’s too sweet for you, cut it with ice.
