Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Fermented raspberries. Pulpy, sharp apple.
Initial Taste: Minimal bite. Quick raspberry syrup notes. Pulpy, dry, sharp and sweet apple characteristics.
After Taste: Some fruit bitterness emerges. Raspberries taste more muddled and jammy and stay on the palate longer than the apples.
On ice: Thinner mouthfeel. Raspberry “cordial” notes less syrupy.
Additional Notes: Banjo’s Maud Cider is inspired by the raspberry cordial drink in Lucy Maud Montomery’s infamous book, Anne of Green Gables. It definitely comes across as thicker and syrupy, to this goal. The apples are sharp and a bit sweet, but fizzles out before the raspberry. Despite the syrupy cordial note, it’s still a lighter bodied cider overall. Not too sweet either.
