Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Strong aroma. Pulpy, slightly caramelized apples. Juicy and semi-sweet notes.
Initial Taste: Light bite. A momentary hit of naturally sweet apple notes taken over dramatically by sour crab apple elements. Tons of acidity and tannins. Its thick with quite the punch to the senses.
After Taste: Apples dissipate leaving sour, fermentation and saline notes in the aftertaste that actually clears out quite quickly. Some citrus elements.
On ice: Minor adjustment in intensity and flavour.
Additional Notes: Heeman’s Dolgo Crabapple single varietal cider is a very unique offering – as crabapples are typically not chosen for single varietal ciders due to their intensity. Being tannic and acidic forward, its also extra sour and very puckering for the palate. Intense with a few stages of flavour changes, it actually finishes somewhat quickly, but its bold for the burst of action there is. Barreling adds to the intensity, as its aged for 2 years. Extra crisp.
