Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Sour, slightly acetic strawberry. Hints of lemon and herb.
Initial Taste: Medium bite. Quickly sour. A smooth early-season strawberry. Mild muddled apple, including crab apple notes. Malo-lactic elements.
After Taste: A pulpy, creamy strawberry comes through. Apple weakens. Herby undertones. Ends on a zesty lemon note.
On ice: Thinner body. A lot less pop of flavour. A mild reduction in sourness.
Additional Notes: Équinoxe’s Balade is a strawberry and sumac cide, that is a funky, sour, but not overwhelming for the senses cider. Starting heavier on the apple notes, that are dry and include some crab-like varieties, it becomes more titular fruit focused in the end. The strawberries are dry but add some brightness, and the sumac presents as a lemony herb flavour here, not too floral. Hints of acetic notes. A strong farmhouse cider offering.
