Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Medium aroma. Cellared soft apples. Hint of natural bitterness.
Initial Taste: Medium tingly bite. Yellow and red apple characteristics. Some fermentation and yeast elements. Cellaring upfront.
After Taste: Becomes a softer cider, with bittersharp elements really on display here. Natural sweet notes shine at the end. Apple flesh finish.
On ice: Reduced sweetness and bitterness. More of a singular flavour journey.
Additional Notes: The 2022 vintage of Cold Creek’s Cuvée Madeline is a drier/funkier version than previous year’s versions. With the cellaring/barreling notes known for this brand, the cider starts off with bolder elements – including bitterness and fermentation notes – and ends softer and with the natural sweetness being more evident here. A medley of apple notes, we get red and yellow varieties detected (unconfirmed). Really ends on the apple flesh notes. On ice, it strips it of a lot of its goals. Lots of trub in this version.
