Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Strong aroma. Juicy apple. Off-dry sweetness.
Initial Taste: Light bite from carbonation. Sharp and a bit astringent. Juicy. punchy apple flesh that is semi-dry with some bright elements to it. Semi-sour and slightly tannic.
After Taste: Becomes more earthy and dank. Some woody notes in the finish with a semi-long lingering sour apple.
On ice: Little change, a bit more sour.
Additional Notes: The River Road Cider by Reif Winery Inc is their standard, traditional method cider that has a lot of punch to it. Juicy, fleshy and with some tannic elements, it has a lot of body and finishes a bit dank and sour. A lot going on in this one, but still has a semi-sweet element to it – similar to what you would find in a granny smith apple. Apple forward, classic with a modern, unique twist to it.
