Cider Crate Tasting Notes:
Smell: Strong aroma. Heavy ginger that is zesty and spicy. Mild dessert apples
Initial Taste: Light bite from carbonation. Initial taste impacted by ginger smell. First a light hit of sweet dessert apples that’s quickly overtaken by strong, spicy ginger. Apple is not seen again. Some throat burning once the ginger gets there.
After Taste: Ginger sits on the palate for an extremely long time. Lips are also spicy/tingly.
On ice: Ginger is somewhat tamed, less intense overall.
Additional Notes: The Apple Ginger by Lonetree Old Growth Orchard is a spicy, ginger heavy offering. With only a hint of apple to start, ginger overpowers all other elements throughout the rest of the glass. Ginger sits at the back of the throat; as well as the tongue & lips. It has a base of sweet, caramelized apples, but it’s hidden behind the ginger. We found ourselves coughing when taking a sip, so you have to like spicy ginger to enjoy this one. If you plan to have another cider, make sure to have that one first (i.e., finish your night on this one)
